LOS ANGELES, - Pembuat film kawakan David Fincher sedang dalam pembicaraan untuk mengarahkan sebuah film Hollywood berdasarkan fenomena situs jejaring sosial Facebook.

Sutradara yang antara lain telah menggarap film-film layar lebar The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Zodiac, Seven, dan Fight Club ini sedang dalam tahap awal negosiasi dengan Columbia Pictures mengenai kemungkinan membuat film yang mengacu kepada fenomena Facebook itu. Daily Variety memberitakan pada Rabu (24/6) waktu Los Angeles (California, AS).

Berita itu menyebut, sebuah naskah untuk film itu, The Social Network, telah ditulis oleh Aaron Sorkin. Sorkin dikenal sebagai penulis naskah film seri televisi The West Wing dan film-film layar lebar seperti Charlie Wilson’s War dan A Few Good Men.

Berita itu menyebut pula, fokus film itu akan terletak pada perkembangan situs Facebook dari penciptaannya oleh mahasiswa bernama Mark Zuckerberg pada 2004 hingga menjadi fenomena global dengan lebih dari 200 juta anggota.

LOS ANGELES, -- The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, organisasi penyelenggara hajatan Academy Awards mengumumkan, pada penyelenggaraan Academy Awards ke-82 pada tahun 2010 mendatang, jumlah film yang diunggulkan di kategori Film Terbaik akan bertambah menjadi sepuluh film.

Presiden The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Sid Ganis mengatakan, keputusan tersebut diambil untuk memberikan ruang bagi film-film yang baik untuk mendapatkan penghargaan yang prestisius, Piala Oscar.

Keputusan tersebut menandai kembali tradisi Oscar yang pernah dilakukan di era tahun 30-an dan 40-an. "Setelah lebih dari enam dekade, akademi akhirnya kembali seperti masa-masa awal di mana aura persaingan terasa lebih luas," terang Ganis kepada pers di Beverly Hills, AS, Rabu (24/6) waktu setempat.

"Namun hasilnya, tentu saja, akan tetap sama. Hanya ada satu karya film yang menjadi terbaik. Jumlah film yang masuk nominasi tidak lagi lima, tapi kini menjadi sepuluh," ujarnya.

"Punya sepuluh nomine memberikan ruang bagi pemilih untuk memberikan pilihannya. Tak hanya itu, kesempatan juga bisa didapat oleh film-film yang menonjol di sejumlah kategori Oscar lainnya, tapi malah tersisih dalam pertarungan memperebutkan penghargaan puncak," paparnya.

Rencananya film-film nomine Academy Awards ke-82 akan diumumkan 2 Februari 2010 mendatang. Sementara malam penganugerahannya akan disiarkan pada 7 Maret 2010. Tahun ini, film-film yang turut bersaing di kategori Film Terbaik, yakni The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon, Milk, The Reader dan Slumdog Millionaire. Penghargaannya sendiri diberikan kepada Slumdog Millionaire.

LOS ANGELES, KOMPAS.com - Runner up American Idol 2009, Adam Lambert, akhirnya mengakui secara jujur bahwa dirinya seorang penyuka sejenis alias gay. Kepada Majalah Rolling Stone, Lambert menguak rahasia kehidupan pribadinya itu.

Diakui glam-rocker berusia 27 tahun tersebut, sudah beberapa tahun belakangan ini telah satu atap dengan kekasihnya. "Saya tak mengira bahwa ini akan menjadi perhatian banyak orang bahwa saya seorang gay," ujarnya. “Saya sudah tinggal serumah di Los Angeles selama delapan tahun dengan pria gay," lanjutnya.

Meski masalah gay masih menjadi isu yang kontroversial, Lambert mengaku tak risih dengan statusnya tersebut. Ia justru bangga. Jika selama ini ia belum mau bicara, itu bukan berarti untuk menutupi hal tersebut, melainkan karena ia ingin menghindari kontroversi ketika ia turut dalam American idol.

Bahkan, katanya, ia terpaksa mencomot kembali gambar-gambar yang sangat pribadi di situs-situs jejaring pertemanan, seperti Facebook dan MySpace, untuk menghindari kontoversi di ajang tersebut. "Tapi, tetap saja, saya kelupaan menghapus foto lainnya di situs jejaring lainnya," ujarnya.

LOS ANGELES, KOMPAS.com — Aura keseksian aktris Megan Fox memang tak terbantahkan. Tengok saja, namanya kembali nongol di urutan teratas 100 Perempuan Terseksi di Dunia 2009 versi Majalah FHM Amerika Serikat.

Tahun lalu, label perempuan terseksi juga pernah diberikan kepadanya. Dengan demikian, bintang film Transformers itu, menjadi perempuan kedua yang berhasil mempertahankan gelar tersebut selama dua tahun berturut-turut, setelah Jennifer Lopez (2001 dan 2002).

Di posisi kedua ditempati aktris Jessica Alba, disusul Scarlett Johansson di urutan tiga besar. Sementara Madeline Zima menutup urutan lima besar, berada satu peringkat di bawah Jessica Biel (keempat).

Sementara itu, penyanyi dan aktris Britney Spears berhasil mengembalikan kembali aura keseksiannya. Setelah tahun lalu terdepak di urutan 100 perempuan terseksi, tahun ini ia langsung melompat dengan menempati urutan ke-12.

Sedangkan di deretan sepuluh besar ada Adriana Lima (6), Elisha Cuthbert (7), Heidi Montag (8), Anne Hathaway (9), dan Katy Perry (10).

LOS ANGELES,Dinobatkan sebagai Pria Paling Seksi se-Jagat versi Heat, majalah terbitan Inggris, Robert Pattinson mengaku cukup tersanjung. Ia pun menegaskan bahwa dirinya tak takut dengan imej yang terbentuk lantaran label yang disandingkan kepadanya itu.

"Saya tak merasa takut dengan hal itu. Toh, saya tidak merasa seorang diri," ujarnya seperti dikutip aceshowbiz.com, Rabu (24/6).

Dalam jajak pendapat yang dilakukan Majalah Heat itu, Robert secara mengejutkan mengungguli keseksian aktor-aktor kelas A seperti, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt dan bahkan bintang baru Zac Efron. "Robert sangat mudah (dikenali) dari matanya, tapi kepopulerannya memerankan karakter Edward yang kuat, jeli, dan teraniaya dalam film Twilight, justru menjadi sesuatu yang didambakan kebanyakan perempuan," papar editor Majalah Heat, Julian Linley.

Berkat perannya dalam film Twilight, nama Robert memang melejit bak meteor. Hal ini pulalah yang tak pernah disangkanya. Banyak orang kini dengan mudah mengenalinya, bahkan kadang memperlakukannya bak seorang pejuang yang dielu-elukan.

Saat berada di Bandara Frankfurt kemarin, Robert pun sempat menjadi pusat perhatian banyak orang, lantaran penggemarnya meminta tanda tangan atau sekedar berfoto bersama. "Orang-orang dengan segera mengetahui saya. Hal ini sebelumnya tak pernah," katanya.

Oleh karena hubungan sebab akibat ini, kejadian yang diramal Jucelino sudah melebihi 80.000 kasus, mari kita simak dari firasat mimpinya beberapa ramalan pilihan bersifat internasional dan bencana berskala besar yang sudah terjadi, agar kita bersama-sama kilas balik dengan peristiwa di bawah ini:

Peristiwa terbunuhnya Putri Diana

Tanggal 4 Maret 1997, surat peringatan yang dikirim via pos kepada Lady Diana, “Saya menerima info dari Tuhan, ada orang berniat jahat merencanakan skenario kecelakaan mobil terhadap anda, jiwa anda juga bisa mengalami bahaya, tujuh malaikat mengatakannya demikian kepada saya. Kemungkinan anda akan tewas di dalam kecelakaan mobil kali ini, namun para pakar barangkali bisa menganggapnya sebagai human error saat berkendara dan mengurusinya sebagai kejadian kecelakaan, akan tetapi mereka salah sama sekali. Pembunuhnya ada di dekat anda…..peristiwa pembunuhan ini kemungkinan terjadi sebelum tibanya tahun 2000.”

Jucelino juga pernah mengirimkan surat peringatan tersebut per pos kepada tiga media cetak besar Inggris yakni Times, Daily Telegraph dan Guardian, tetapi hingga hari ini tidak pernah diberitakan. Peristiwa kecelakaan mobil terjadi setelah lima bulan sejak terkirimnya surat peringatan yakni tanggal 31 Agustus 1997, persis seperti uraian ramalan bahwa pada akhirnya diselesaikan dengan sembrono sebagai human error dalam berkendara.

Di dalam ramalan dicatat bahwa peristiwa itu bisa terjadi sebelum tahun 2000, meskipun tidak terdapat tanggal, bulan dan tahun yang pasti, tetapi dua tahun sebelum ramalan, di dalam surat yang dikirim Jucelino kepada presiden Brasil ketika itu Fernando Henrique Silva Cardoso, disebutkan (surat ini dibubuhi stempel biro notaris) bahwa, “Tahun 1997 sampai 1998 Lady Diana bisa tewas….”

Dua kali serangan terhadap WTC, kali kedua adalah kejadian teror 911
Tahun 1989, sebuah surat peringatan dikirim kepada presiden Amerika dan kedutaan Inggris, surat tersebut tertanggal 26 Oktober 1989 per pos dan tercatat di kantor notaris Klicheeba di kota Palana.

Di dalam surat tersebut juga diramalkan bahwa tahun 1993 untuk kali pertama WTC bakal diserang, meskipun tidak dinujum tanggal serangan, namun serangan kedua kalinya dengan sangat jelas disebutkan pada tanggal 11 September 2001. Mengenai hasil dari surat peringatan tersebut, telah anda ketahui. Serangan pertama WTC terjadi tiga setengah tahun sesudah surat peringatan diterima yakni tanggal 26 Februari 1993, suatu kasus peledakan areal parkir yang menimbulkan korban tewas dan terluka, sedangkan serangan kedua terjadi pada 12 tahun kemudian yakni 11 September 2001, ” Kasus serangan 911 dilakukan serentak oleh banyak teroris” yang telah menggemparkan dunia.

Yang membuat orang terkejut dan terheran-heran ialah di dalam surat peringatan/ramalannya itu juga tercatat: sesudah serangan kedua terhadap WTC, meletus perang Afghanistan dan Irak, setelah Irak terkalahkan, presiden Saddam Hussein melarikan diri dan bersembunyi di wilayah Irak tengah di kota Ad Dawr dan lain sebagainya, juga diramal dengan terperinci, peristiwa yang para pembaca sudah ketahui semua, di dalam surat ramalan tersebut kejadian yang diramalkan satu per satu telah terjadi.

Surat peringatan itu juga dikirim per pos George Bush Sr., surat peringatan ramalan per tahun 1989 tersebut ditulis 9 tahun kemudian pada tanggal 28 Oktober tahun 1998 dan dikirim ulang kepada presiden Clinton, di dalam surat tersebut disampaikan: “Jucelino sangat mengkawatirkan bencana yang dulu telah dilihatnya di dalam mimpi, itu adalah kaum teroris melancarkan serangan terhadap pulau Manhattan, gedung jangkung dikepung oleh api raksasa yang datang dari langit. Mungkin saja ada orang mengira bahwa ini sedang berkelakar dan tidak menganggapnya serius, akan tetapi mutlak bukan lelucon, oleh karena itu saya mengirim surat kepada media utama Amerika, berharap mereka bisa mempublikasikan surat peringatan ramalan saya.”

Lokasi Persembunyian Saddam Hussein

Mengenai lokasi persembunyian Saddam, sesudah peristiwa terjadi pada tanggal 13 September 2001, pos yang disampaikan kepada presiden Amerika George Bush dengan sangat detail diceritakan tentang “lokasi persembunyian Saddam, di sebelah luarnya terdapat sebuah poster tentang bahtera nabi Nuh, di tepi sungai Tigris terdapat sebuah lobang, di atasnya ditutupi dengan papan kayu dan karpet imitasi, aksesnya dikamuflasekan dengan batu bata, tanah dan sampah.”

Kemudian sesudah membaca berita baru mengetahui bahwa ramalan Jucelino betul-betul sangat tepat, ramalan yang pada realitanya membuat orang sangat tercengang itu masih terus berkelanjutan. Tentang Saddam pasca penangkapan dari pemberitaan pers kita ketahui bahwa sesudah dinyatakan bersalah dan divonis hukuman mati dan dieksekusi pada tanggal 30 Desember 2006 lalu. Sesudah itu terjadi pertentangan sengit antar kelompok Sunni dan Syiah di negeri Irak, bisa sewaktu-waktu mengakibatkan situasi perang saudara, setiap pagi dan malam hari banyak korban tewas warga sipil tak berdosa telah berjatuhan.

Namun vonis mati Saddam seperti ini dan Irak pasca Saddam dipenuhi kekalutan di dalam negeri, berkaitan dengan ramalan Jucelino ini, tanggal 29 Mei 2006 lalu telah dikirim kali ketiga kepada Radio Pass FM Indonesia yang berada di Jakarta, isi seluruhnya cocok, sebagai berikut :
“Menurut pengadilan Irak, Saddam di vonis bersalah, dan kemungkinan dieksekusi mati pada tanggal 30 Desember 2006. Dengan demikian seluruh negeri Irak akan terjadi pertikaian, dan akan terjadi banyak korban jiwa.” Selain itu, sering kali firasat mimpi tepat ditunjukkan kepada Jucelino, membiarkan dia di dalam alam mimpi melihat tokoh dari musibah dan bencana dunia, dari sini bisa diketahui bahwasanya ia bukan “manusia biasa”, ia pasti memiliki kekuatan meneropong masa depan dan kemampuan meramal yang menakjubkan.

Gempa besar di laut Sumatera

Surat peringatan terawal yang dikirim ialah 8 tahun sebelum terjadi Tsunami di Aceh tahun 2004, tepatnya pada tanggal 16 September 1996 lalu, dikirim per pos kepada duta besar India di Brasilia, ibu kota Brasil. Di dalam surat tersebut diramalkan bahwa tanggal 26 Desember 2004 pagi hari di propinsi Aceh, Indonesia bakal terjadi gempa bumi 8,9 skala Richter, Indonesia dan India diterjang Tsunami setinggi 10 meter itu. Surat peringatan kepada presiden Indonesia Soeharto dikirim per tanggal 30 April 1997, isi surat tersebut: “Saya di dalam mimpi melihat tanggal 26 Desember 2004 pagi hari jam 7, Asia Selatan bakal diguncang oleh 8.9 skala richter gempa besar, bersamaan dengan itu juga bisa terjadi tsunami setinggi 10 meter, area penyebarannya dimulai dari propinsi Aceh, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Sri Langka, Thailand, Maldivas, Bangladesh dan sebagainya bahkan mencapai hingga Mauritius. Dan bakal ada 100.000 jiwa terenggut…”
Alhasil, gempa bumi sesuai ramalan di dalam surat peringatan tersebut terjadi pada pagi hari jam 7.58 tanggal 26 Desember 2004, angka tewas melebihi 200. 000 orang, gelombang tsunami tertinggi mencapai 30 meter, ada banyak sekali orang raib ditelan tsunami yang menerjang pantai. Para kedubes seperti Indonesia , Filipina , Thailand dan lain-lain, juga telah menerima surat yang sama, surat resmi tersebut semuanya terlampiri stempel jawatan pos terkait. Selain itu Jucelino juga menerima surat ucapan terima kasih dari berbagai kedubes atau pejabat sekretariat kepresidenan negara bersangkutan.

Surat ucapan terima kasih dari kantor kepresidenan berisi keluhan sebagai berikut: “Mengenai gempa bumi dan tsunami jikalau sampai terjadi pada tahun 2004, demi menghindari terjadinya bencana yang mengerikan ini, ada banyak hal terpaksa harus kami lakukan, namun kami juga merasa tak berdaya.” Selain itu, isi surat balasan sederhana berasal kedubes Indonesia : “….kami akan menyampaikan isi surat anda kepada negara kami, apabila ada berita lain yang hendak disusulkan, jangan ragu-ragu menyampaikan.”
Dari situ bisa diketahui, 8 tahun sebelum bencana terjadi, Jucelino sudah meramalkan bakal ada gempa bumi super-besar dan tsunami besar melanda kawasan Asia Selatan dengan korban tewas melebihi 100.000 orang, dari dalam surat peringatan tersebut dengan rinci kami dapat mengetahui bahwa Jucelino juga secara parsial mengirim surat resmi pemberitahuan dengan detail tentang tahun, bulan, tanggal dan waktu kejadian, kepada negara-negara yang bakal tertimpa bencana, namun pada kenyataannya tiada langkah-langkah pencegahan efektif apapun yang dilakukan.

Ramalan lainnya (walaupun sampai saat ini ramalan tersebut tidak terjadi alias ramalannya meleset) :

Tahun 2008
-Obat penangkal penyakit AIDS dan Dengue berhasil ditemukan.
-Tanggal 18 Juli bakal terjadi gempa bumi besar di Filipina, akan terdapat ribuan korban tewas.
- Empire State Building , New York , pada bulan September bakal mengalami peristiwa teror.
-Pada tanggal 13 September akan terjadi gempa besar 9,1 skala richter di Tiongkok, sumber gempa di Nanning dan pulau Hainan, bersamaan itu bakal terjadi tsunami besar setinggi 30 meter lebih, menimbulkan jutaan korban tewas. Tsunami tersebut sangat mungkin menyapu Jepang pula.

Tahun 2009
-Tanggal 25 Januari bakal terjadi gempa bumi besar ber-skala richter 8,9 menyerang Osaka dan Kobe , Jepang, dikuatirkan korban tewas mencapai beberapa puluh ribu orang.
-Bulan November di Jepang terjadi lagi gempa bumi besar, bakal ada ribuan orang tewas.
-Pemerintah Brazil dikarenakan krisis ekonomi dan tidak mampu menerbitkan dana asu-ransi dan pensiun, sehingga rakyat di ibu kota dan penjara memberontak.
-Tanggal 24 Agustus Istambul, Turki, bakal terjadi gempa bumi besar berskala Richter 8,9, jalanan banyak yang retak dan patah.
-Tanggal 16 Desember di wilayah timur Sumatra , Indonesia , bakal terjadi 7,8 skala Richter gempa bumi, ribuan orang tewas.

Tahun 2010
-Temperatur beberapa negara Afrika kemungkinan besar meningkat hingga 58° Celcius, bersamaan itu terjadi kekurangan air bersih yang parah.
-Tanggal 15 Juni pasar saham di New York bakal runtuh, ekonomi dunia akan memasuki kondisi krisis.
Suhu di Afrika bisa mencapai 58° Celcius, angka yang pada awal mendengar seolah-olah sulit dipercaya, namun pada kenyata-annya pada awal bulan Mei 2007, menurut info para pelancong yang pergi ke sekitar wilayah Afrika, temperatur di Yunani dan Turki sudah mencapai 39° hingga 40° Celcius, sedangkan ibu kota utama Irak dan jazirah Arab temperatur tingginya berta-han di suhu 45° – 46° Celcius, pada musim panas suhu tertinggi dimungkinkan terjadi. Suhu awal Mei saja sudah sedemikian tinggi, bisa dibayangkan pada tahun 2010 kelak pemanasan global bakal semakin parah, temperatur di banyak negara Afrika sangat dimungkinkan mencetak rekor tertinggi yang susah dibayangkan.

Tahun 2011
-Penelitian metode penyembuhan penyakit kanker berhasil dengan sukses, akan tetapi jenis penyakit baru lainnya bakal muncul.
-Wabah beracun yang mematikan bakal muncul, dinamakan ALS (red.: terjemahan harfiah, belum tentu akurat) yang menyebabkan kehilangan kekebalan tubuh, apabila terjangkit penyakit tersebut dalam tempo 4 jam bakal meninggal.
-Flu burung jenis H5NI mulai resmi menyerang umat manusia, hingga tahun 2013 terdapat sekitar 73.000.000 orang tewas karena virus ini.
Ciri khas ramalan Jucelino tidak saja meramalkan penyakit menular dan terjadinya gempa, bahkan penyakit yang belum terjadi dan nama dari gempapun bisa diramal, misalnya judul buku karangan Al Gore, mantan wakil presiden AS, berjudul An Inconvenient Truth, angin puting beliung menyapu ibu kota Brazil, Rio de Janeiro menimbulkan ri-buan korban tewas, ALS sebutan untuk penyakit menular yang muncul pada tahun 2011, gempa bumi besar dari San Francisco, AS, tahun 2006 dinamakan The Big One dan lain-lain contoh tipikal.

Tahun 2012
-Oleh karena perluasan area kebakaran ladang sewaktu musim kekeringan, gurunisasi dimulai, antara tahun 2015 - 2020 rimba belantara Amazon bakal lenyap.
-Mulai 6 Desember langit berubah memasuki jaman awan hitam, disebut sebagai kabut pekat karena cuaca.
-Oleh karena tersebar luasnya penyakit menular umat manusia mulai punah.

Tahun 2013
-Penelitian untuk metode penyembuhan penyakit kanker selain tumor otak dinyatakan berhasil.
-Pulau Bahama dari kepulauan Hindia barat (gugus kepulauan dekat Karibia), antara tanggal 1 -25 November dikarenakan letus-an gunung berapi terjadi gempa bumi, sesudah itu juga bakal terjadi tsunami super raksasa seting-gi 150 meter, gelombang tsunami setinggi kira-kira 80 meter akan menyapu lautan Karibia, daratan AS, Brazil dan lain-lain juga bakal diterjang masuk jauh ke daratan hingga 15 - 20 km. Sebelum tsunami terjadi, air laut akan surut sedalam 6 meter, sejumlah besar penyu juga akan mulai bergerak.

Diramalkan oleh Jucelino di saat anjing dan kucing mengetahui akan ada bencana besar menimpa, mereka tentu akan melarikan diri dari tempat tinggalnya, 24 jam sebelum meninggalkan lokasi mereka akan menunjukkan tanda-tanda gerakan tak lazim, maka itu kita bisa berdasarkan hal tersebut menjadikannya sebagai standar pengamatan.

Tahun 2014
Planet kecil perlahan-lahan mendekati bumi dan ada kemungkinan bertubrukan dengan bumi, eksistensi planet kecil ini mempengaruhi permasalahan tentang timbul tenggelamnya umat manusia di bumi.

Tahun 2015
Pertengahan November suhu rata-rata dunia kemungkinan mencapai 59° Celcius, ada banyak orang mati kepanasan, dengan demikian kekalutan besar dunia semakin parah saja.

Tahun 2016
-Pertengahan bulan April terjadi serangan taifun, ada ibu kota di Tiongkok mengalami kerusakan, sekitar 1.000 orang tewas.
-Presiden AS saat ini George W. Bush bakal masuk ruang gawat darurat RS, jiwanya di ambang kematian.

Mengenai masalah pendekatan planet kecil ke bumi, para pemimpin berbagai pemerintah-an dunia berkumpul mengadakan rapat penanggulangannya. Juce-lino pada tahun 2000 sudah me-ramalkan, selain itu juga memberitahu keberadaan planet kecil itu kepada NASA, pada tanggal 31 Juni 2002 sebagian kecil petinggi NASA menamakan planet kecil tersebut “2002NZT7″.

Tahun 2025
- Para pakar klimatologi menemukan kembali planet kecil, ternyata sangat mungkin berta-brakan kembali dengan bumi, kemungkinan bertubrukan mencapai 80%.

Tahun 2026
-Terjadi gempa super besar di San Francisco pada bulan Juni, disebut sebagai “The Big One”, patahan besar San Andreas Fault bisa rusak, negara bagian California bisa hancur, banyak kawah gunung berapi bakal terbuka kembali, ketinggian tsunami juga bisa melebihi 150 meter.
Dari ramalan peringatan untuk masa depan, selain ramalan seperti tersebut di atas, masih ada ramalan yang lebih mengejutkan orang, ramalan terakhir yang bisa disampaikan Jucelino adalah hingga tahun 2043

Penduduk dunia berkurang secara drastis, terdapat sekitar 80% penduduk tewas di dalam bencana.
Pesta olahraga Olimpiade dunia dilangsungkan di Beijing apakah bakal berjalan dengan lancar?
Seperti dikisahkan di depan, tahun 2008 akan terjadi gempa bumi besar 9,1 skala richter menimbulkan jutaan korban tewas di Tiongkok, menurut ramalan Jucelino, tanggal terjadinya gempa ialah 13 September, sedangkan tanggal berlangsungnya Olimpiade ialah 8 - 24 Agustus, ditilik dari jadwal tersebut, sesudah Olimpiade usai baru terjadi gempa bumi. Tetapi yang dikuatirkan ialah sebelum terjadi gempa besar tersebut, gempa-gempa kecil bakal terjadi berulangkali (pada bulan mei 98 ini juga terjadi gempa yang cukup dahsyat di China ), yang juga bakal membuat negara dan rakyat memasuki era tidak tenang.
Meskipun Jucelino tidak dengan jelas memastikan tepat kapan terjadinya, namun jika dia-sumsikan dengan 1 hingga 2 bulan, sangat mungkin terjadi sewaktu berlangsungnya Olimpiade, kalau memang demikian bisa membuat kepercayaan penyelenggara dan atlet peserta menjadi goyah. Sewaktu penulis membaca sepotong ramalan Jucelino, di dalam benak sekejap teringat akan pesan Mr. John Titoer (terjemahan harfiah, belum akurat) bahwa “Olimpiade Athena pada tahun 2004 adalah yang terakhir.

Akan tetapi, pusat gempa sesuai ramalan apabila terjadi di Nanning dan sekitar pulau Hai-nan, pulau terujung di Tiongkok, sedangkan di sekeliling kedua tempat tersebut asalkan tidak dibangun arena pertandingan, maka Olimpiade dunia bakal ditutup dengan sukses. Namun letak persoalannya ialah pemerintah PKC (Partai Komunis China ) hanya mementingkan jaga muka, dengan hanya memprioritaskan keberhasilan Olimpiade lantas mengabaikan gempa awal yang semakin kerap, kemungkinan tia-danya antisipasi terhadapnya sa-ngat tinggi. Pemerintah PKC barangkali bakal menyesuaikan si-kon akan membatasi pemberitaan, memblokir berita kejadian gempa awal yang diramalkan terhadap pers dalam dan luar negeri, tindakan semacam itu mutlak bakal membuat bencana seperti yang diramalkan bertambah parah. Di dalam surat peringatan Jucelino dikatakan: “Jikalau tidak dilakukan proteksi yang baik terhadap masyarakat sipil, bisa membawa kerugian sangat parah.”

Ramalan Jucelino juga menyebutkan kedatangan jaman es
Ia juga meramalkan dengan tepat tentang anomali cuaca, salah satunya, pada tahun 2003 terjadi suhu panas di Eropa, di dalam surat peringatan tanggal 29 Oktober 2001 Jucelino meramalkan: “Alam akan menyerang balik bumi, kenaikan temperatur di Perancis, Jerman dan Portugal menimbulkan puluhan ribu korban tewas, bencana ini bisa terjadi pada tahun 2003 dan 2004.” Realitanya, suhu musim panas di Eropa pada tahun 2003 mencapai puncaknya, terdapat sekitar 35 ribu orang mati kepanasan. Diantaranya di Perancis dan Jerman yang paling hebat, korban tewas di Perancis sebanyak 14.000 jiwa, di Jerman sekitar 7.000 orang.

Disimak dari ramalan Jucelino, pemanasan global semakin lama semakin naik, sampai tahun 2012 suhu di negara Afrika barangkali bisa mencapai 58° Celcius yang meresahkan orang, bersamaan dengan itu juga bisa terjadi kekurangan air yang parah, sesudah itu suhu juga akan sema-kin naik, hingga tahun 2015 suhu rata-rata bumi bisa mencapai 59° Celcius, banyak orang akan mati kepanasan, ketakutan besar umat manusia akan semakin menggl-bal. Apabila betul-betul terjadi seperti itu, tentu saja bisa berakibat kekeringan dan kekurangan pasokan pangan dan menimbulkan ketegangan antar negara, Ju-celino juga meramalkan tahun 2011 bisa jadi kekurangan air maka menimbulkan meletusnya perang baru, tentang perang ini ia tidak meramalkan secara rinci, namun dirasakan itu bukannya perang perbatasan yang sederhana.

Bagaimanapun gejala pemanasan yang terjadi sekarang ini bukannya seperti yang dianggap para pakar cuaca bahwa “kecepatan pemanasan sangat lamban”, melainkan melonjak dengan drastis. Akan tetapi pemanasan seolah-olah juga mutlak tidak berlangsung terus menerus, sesudah pemanasan global, telah menanti gejala berbalik menjadi ekstrim dingin. Asalkan suhu bumi sedemikian meningkat drastis, pulau Greenland dan kutub selatan akan ada es dalam jumlah cukup besar yang meleleh, hal mutlak yang tak dapat dihindari, alhasil sirkulasi besar samudra menjadi lemah sehingga berubah menjadi efek pendinginan, meluncur secepat kilat, yang me-nandakan akan terjadi sebuah kelahiran jaman es baru. Dalam ramalan Jucelino sepertinya juga dibuktikan bahwa pada tahun 2027 sesudah terjadi keadaan pendinginan global, masih lagi akan menghadapi sebuah jaman es yang baru. Isi detail ramalan tersebut :

“Gunung berapi Yellow Stone Park di Amerika mulai meletus, oleh karena semburan api begitu besar sehingga menga-kibatkan lahar dan asap akan meluas ke segala penjuru hingga sejauh 1.600 km, seperti Kansas, Nebraska dan Montana dan lain sebagainya, bakal mengalami bencana besar, sesudah gunung api ini meletus bisa terlahir lagi jaman es baru. Letusan gunung berapi bukan hanya terjadi di Yellow Stone Park , di seluruh tempat di dunia bisa juga terjadi, oleh karena semburan asap telah menutupi matahari, lebih-lebih lagi arus sirkulasi besar dari samudera terhenti maka telah merangsang pembentukan gejala pendinginan global.

Al Gore memperoleh hadiah nobel perdamaian
Seperti telah anda ketahui, mantan wapres AS, Al Gore berupaya terhadap penelitian per-masalahan pemanasan global, karangannya yang terkenal yakni “An Inconvenience Truth” telah dibuatkan filmnya, malah juga telah memperoleh hadiah Oscar, sehingga banyak orang menyambut dengan getir permasalahan pemanasan global Al Gore yang dipindahkan ke layar perak. Sesungguhnya pada 19 tahun yang lalu, yakni pada tahun 1988, Jucelino sudah meramalnya, berita itu dimuat di majalah Moon edisi 6, akhir bulan Mei sebelum dipublikasikan, kepala editor penelitian sewaktu memberitahu penulis, saya juga merasa terkejut sampai tercengang sejenak.

Menurut surat ramalan kepada Al Gore yang kala itu menjabat anggota kongres yang dikirim per pos pada tahun 1988 oleh Jucelino sudah diinfokan kepada Al Gore, dari tahun 1993 - 2001 ia bakal menjabat wapres pemerintahan Clinton, kelak akan berusaha dengan gigih terhadap kegiatan yang melindungi lingkungan hidup di bumi, selain itu juga bakal tersohor dengan buku karangannya berjudul “An Inconvenience Truth”, dalam surat yang ditulis dalam bahasa Inggris itu, Jucelino juga menyebut dengan tepat judul bukunya. Selain itu di dalam surat ramalan tersebut juga diberitahukan kegiatan Al Gore tersebut bakal diakui dan berhasil memperoleh hadiah Nobel perdamaian tahun 2007. Kemampuan ramalan Jucelino tidak bisa kita sangkal.

Tapi itu semua hanya ramalan dan mungkin saja apa yang telah terjadi selama ini hanya kebetulan belaka.

Isaac Newton, yang dalam novel Dan Brown “The Da Vinci Code” disebut-sebut sebagai salah seorang tokoh Illuminati Eropa abad pertengahan yang melawan dogma gereja soal gravitasi bumi, ternyata diketahui memiliki sebuah manuskrip rahasia. Manuskrip ini berisi ramalan Newton tentang akhir dunia, yang diambil dari berbagai kitab-kitab kuno dan juga Injil Daniel.

Dari sejumlah literatur diketahui bahwa selain menyukai fisika dan matematika, Newton juga tekun mendalami ilmu-ilmu religi, simbol, dan juga ramalan. Yang terakhir ini mendekatkannya kepada perkumpulan-perkumpulan ilmuwan Eropa Kabalah abad pertengahan yang saat itu menjadi musuh bebuyutan gereja. Sebuah perkumpulan atau perserikatan ilmuwan paling terkemuka di Eropa ketika itu bernama Illuminati, yang memiliki arti sebagai “Yang Tercerahkan” (Iluminatrix). Menurut kepercayaan kelompok Kabbalah, di Akhir Dunia, Haikal Sulaiman akan sudah berdiri dan dari sana Sang Messiah (The Christ) akan turun kembali guna memimpin orang-orang Yahudi memerangi seluruh manusia yang tidak mau tunduk pada mereka. Perang ini akan berlangsung dengan hebat di atas bukit Megiddo di kawasan Arab dan sebab itu dinamakan Perang Armageddon.

Manuskrip rahasia Newton (The Secrets Newton) ini sempat dipamerkan pada tahun 1969 di Universitas Ibrani di Yerusalem. Dan setelah itu tidak terdengar lagi kabarnya.

Some of my dear readers (probably the older ones) may remember the interview I did back in 2007 with originally-from-California-and-currently-staying-in-Japan songwriter Jovette Rivera, who had written Ya-Ya-yah’s song Baby Babe and also contributed songs to Shonentai’s PLAYZONE 2007: Change2Chance and Takizawa Enbujo 2007. Back then I asked Jovette to let me know whenever he’s back at working with Johnny’s again. Well, earlier today he emailed me to share with me the great news that he wrote a song for KAT-TUN’s upcoming album Break the Records -by you & for you-. The song is callled Moon and it’s the bonus track that comes only with the regular edition of the album.

I’ve listened to quite a number of Jovette’s songs, and I must say he writes some great stuff. You can listen to his wonderful ballad Bokura wa Love over on his MySpace

As for KAT-TUN, I hate to admit it (and it took me a loooong time), but they’ve been kinda growing on me recently because in the last year or so they came up with a couple of songs that I genuinely liked, unlike most of their earlier stuff. So, knowing that Jovette Rivera is a great songwriter whose work I adore I expect Moon to be a great song, and I can’t wait to listen to it.

Character Information

Sharon was once a famous actress^[1], just like Vivian Kudo (Yukiko Kudo), and the two had even once been friends. However, she is secretly a member of the Black Organization,her codename is "Vermouth" Belmot (ベルモット, Berumotto^?) and her past is shrouded with mysteries as it is not known why she doesn't seem to age; though it can be assumed it could be the APTX 2896.

She is an extremely dangerous and devious master of disguise who can imitate any voice without the aid of any electronic devices. Her other talents include cloak-and-dagger tactics, and the ability to get whatever she wants.

It is unknown how long she has been a member of the Black Organization, but it is known that she had been secretly living two lives through the art of disguise; that of herself and her supposed daughter, "Chris" Vineyard. After staging "Sharon's" death, she now lives as "Chris" and continues to serve the Black Organization. Her main objective is to eliminate Shiho Miyano a.k.a. Sherry (Ai Haibara). However, she does not succeed as she meets Conan Edogawa, and he is able to discover and thwart her plans. She also encounters the FBI during this process. Vermouth has great interest in Conan and calls him, a "Silver Bullet"^[2]. However, Gin tells her that there is no such thing as a Silver Bullet which can destroy their organization. It is revealed that she knows about Ai and Kudo's reversion to their child form as she knows the affect the drug can have on some people.

During episode 288 she didn't believe in an angel watching over her, until she was saved by Ran-chan.^[3] Later in the episode, she calls up Yukiko Kudo and tells her to tell Ran-Chan that there is an angel watching over her.^[4] This is suggested to be the reason Vermouth calls her Angel. ^[5]

Place in the Black Organization

It has been mentioned that she is the boss' (あの方, anokata^?) favorite. This may be how she is able to get away with such traitorous actions as she has. It doesn't seem to give her carte blanche to do whatever she likes, however she seems to have much more freedom in her actions. Oddly enough, she seems to be interested in supporting rather than destroying the "Silver Bullets" that could destroy the organization: Shuichi Akai and Conan, although later on in the manga, believing that "One Silver Bullet would suffice," agreed to the murder of Shuichi Akai.

Vermouth is the only member of the organization who knows that Ai Haibara is Shiho Miyano and that Conan is Shin'ichi.
She is resented by Korn and Chianti because she took advantage of the love Calvados held for her and caused his suicide.

It is revealed in episode 345 that she killed Jodie's parents in a fire twenty years ago from the current storyline.
Vermouth has a cameo in volume 24 (which corresponds with episodes 176-178) of the manga at a party during Sherry's reunion with the Black Organization. Her name "Chris" and occupation is listed underneath her, and she appears to be one of the suspects of the guy who is murdered by the chandelier falling on him.
Vermouth does not appear to kill children in cold blood as she does adults. She doesn't kill Jodie upfront as a child (though she does burn her house down without caring that she's inside), and this is also revealed when she allows the boy who witnessed the Kir Case to live as well, stating to Gin that it doesn't matter if he was freed because he's just a boy.
Vermouth also seems to have a guilt complex towards anyone she owes her life to, as evidenced by her hesitating to harm Shinichi/Conan and Ran in the Ai Kidnap case. Possibly due to this, she promises Conan at the end of episode 345 that she or the BO will no longer pursue Haibara.
Vermouth appears at the end of episode 272 explaining the possible meaning of X to the viewers. A picture of Conan, Ran, and Sherry are pinned up on her wall.
Vermouth calls Conan "Cool Guy" and correspondingly, Jodie calls him "Cool Kid".

Vodka is a fictional character of the anime series Case Closed and a member of the Black Organization.

Vodka is mostly seen as the sidekick to Gin, and usually doesn't contribute much to the mission other than being there ^[1] ^[2]. However, it is later revealed that he usually handles most of the research and information that the Black Organization gathers, as when he informs Gin about Shin'ichi being alive, as well as the meeting his arranges in episodes 309-311 ^[3]. Despite his hulking appearance, he is the more easy-going of the two and therefore more suspectible to the traps and diversions which Gin immediately exposes. In File 603, Vodka is actively involved in a mission of chasing the van which contains Kir^[4]. He and the other members are able to get Kir back.^[5].

Fictional character information

Gin is a dangerous and highly ranked member in the "Black Organization". He is the one that attacked and force-fed Jimmy Kudo (Shinichi Kudo in the Japanese version) with APTX-4869, the drug that turned Jimmy into Conan Edogawa. Wearing all black and long yellow/blonde hair, Gin is a tall person, who always covers his eyes with his black hat. He is always looking for Shiho Miyano (also known as Ai Haibara), and aside from considering her a traitor to the Black Organization, he also seems to have some weird obsession with her. He appears to have silver color hair and light green color eyes.

He is usually seen being followed around by his lower ranked comrade/sidekick, Vodka, who doesn't really add much to the missions other than being there (though, he works alone in the Dark Contact Case). Vodka's low rank status is noted in how he calls Gin "Aniki" (or brother), which is what a low-ranked gang member calls a high-ranked gang member. Despite being menacing and coldblooded, Gin appears to respect certain members of his team; Vodka, Vermouth (when she persuades him to leave Conan and Kogoro alone), and Kir (when he decides not to kill anyone at the hospital after she asks him not to).

Since Gin is normally leading the Black Organization's operations he probably has a high position in the Black Organization. Very sharp-minded, perceptive and efficient, he can smell out any trap and deception his partner Vodka would easily fall for.^[2] He takes great pleasure in "rooting out" traitors to the organization; with Shiho ("Sherry") it is possibly a special case, because she is the one prey which has (with Conan's help) repeatedly eluded him.

There is a rivalry between Gin and Shuichi. Gin considers Shuichi dangerous, and Shuichi refers to him as his old enemy in episode 425 (before shooting him). It is revealed in File 599 that this rivalry stems from the death of Akemi Miyano (Ai Haibara's older sister), who had a relationship with Akai. There also appears to be something personal between Gin and Sherry (Ai Haibara) when they confront each other in the "Gin & Sherry" case.

Gin also proved to be able to withstand Conan's sleeping needles to some degree (as proven in episode 178); probably due to some sort of immunization against drugs to avoid capture (in the Ai Kidnap Case, Vermouth was also able to withstand her own knockout gas to a degree, even though she was inside a closed car. However it is more likely a result of both of them shooting themselves to keep themselves awake. Gin shot himself in the arm, while Vermouth shot herself in the leg in the car. Though it's possible that Vermouth fell asleep (because of the gas), only to wake up before Conan. That's why while releasing the sleeping gas she said to Conan that it's a "bet" to see who wakes up first.

Gin is left-handed, and often drives a Porsche 356A. Cold-blooded and callous, Gin doesn't bother to remember any strangers he kills.^[3]

Gin's design drastically changes throughout the series. At the start, his hair is actually light brown, and the line structure is not as detailed. In addition, part of his hair comes down his face across his nose. As the series progresses Gin's hair is blonde, and the line structure is strongly detailed. In addition, there is no hair that comes down across his face anymore.

Role in the Story

Gin's first appearance was with Vodka in the first episode after Jimmy Kudo had solved a case that happened right before his eyes on a roller coaster. When Jimmy witnessed Vodka making a deal with a company president, Gin snuck up behind him, clubbed him on the head with a metal rod, and forced him to swallow a new experimental poison the Black Organization developed, APTX 4869, which was supposed to kill Jimmy (so he couldn't talk) without leaving any trace of it in his body, but instead it shrunk him, and his physical age reverted back to that of a small child.

Gin and Vodka later appeared, in the manga only, shortly after this to collect money from fellow Black Organization member Akemi Miyano, who was under the guise of the name Masami Hirota. When Akemi ordered that she would have to get her sister back for the money, Gin revealed he knew Akemi's real name and that he had an idea where the money was, and shot Akemi. This is also when it is revealed they are members of the Black Organization. Gin was also the one who, just before that, ordered Akemi to give a member of Akemi's gang a pill to make him fall unconscious, but in truth lied and the pill killed that member. The anime changes it so that instead, a common thief was in charge of Akemi's deal and that she survived the gunshot. In Volume 4, also manga only, after he and Vodka leave a bomb on a train, Jimmy, who is now known as Conan Edogawa, overhears Gin and Vodka using their real names, and it is revealed Gin's real name is supposedly Melkior. In the anime, they were simply look-alikes of the BO pair.

In Volume 12, Jimmy encounters another member named Tequila, who was having a phone conversation with Gin. Before Jimmy can get information from Tequila, however, Tequila is accidentally killed in an explosion. Gin and Vodka are later revealed to have made a deal with a member of the gaming/computer company, Mantendo (an obvious takeoff of Nintendo) to exchange a large amount of money for a list of their best computer engineers, where the meeting would happen in a restaurant bar. The bar explodes just before Jimmy reaches the floor the bar is on.

In Episode 128 Gin and Vodka made a billion-yen-heist scheme. Jimmy stops the two from their stealing spree, but they escape before Jimmy can catch up with them. They later reappear in Episodes 176-78, when Pisco captures Ai Haibara and locks her in a wine cellar, where she drinks Paikaru and becomes her adult self again. Despite disguising as a janitor who wears glasses, Gin and Vodka recognize her and shoot her repeatedly. When Jimmy arrives, he shoots Gin with one of his tranquilizer darts, but he doesn't fall asleep. After Ai and Conan escape, Gin shoots himself in the arm to stay awake. When Pisco, who had failed to capture them, is about to tell Gin that Conan is Jimmy and that the little girl was really Shiho, Gin kills Pisco for being caught on film while committing a murder. .

In Episodes 309-311, Conan had arranged a meeting with Vodka to gain more information on the Black Organization. Gin, however, arrives and reveals it's a trap, after which the two escape. Later, in Episode 425, it is revealed Gin hired Chianti and Kir as assassins for the Black Organization. His last appearance was in Chapter 606, when Gin asks Rena Mizunashi to kill Shuichi Akai in order for her to prove that she's a loyal member of the Black Organization, which as of three chapters later has been done.

Currently, Gin and Vodka are close to figuring out that Jimmy is the one constantly attempting to stop their plans.

Drama Series: In the live-action drama series based on the franchise, Gin appears in episode 2 and has a confrontation with Shinichi. He and Vodka corner him in a room, but leave after fearing it to be a trap, but he leaves a grenade behind blowing up the room. At the end of the episode Gin, remembers him giving Shinichi the medicine, but he and Vodka believe he's dead. It is unknown if the manga/anime will eventually adapt this storyline and revelation.

Name and aliases

In Vol. 4 Conan overhears Gin and Vodka talking on a train and they use their real names. Gin's real name is supposedly "Melkior" and Vodka's is "Kaspar" (This is relevant in the English version of the manga only).
- In Vol. 12 this name change, which could possibly create some problems with critical points of the story, was covered up by having Richard mention that he was hung over from drinking "Melkior Gin" and "Kaspar Vodka" the night before.
- In Volume 18 of the Japanese Manga, Conan and The Detective Boys apprehend a criminal gang known as The Silver Fox. Because the leader dress in black, Conan assumed she was part of The Orginazation. When asked if she had a codename like Gin or Vodka, she states "Sorry, but I stopped drinking a while ago". To cover up the name switch, her response to the names Melkior and Kaspar is, "Never heard of them".

From Vol. 28 some have suspected his real name to be Jin Kurosawa, as the name was next to Shiho Miyano 's name in a resort directory.

Character Information

The Phantom Thief Kid is a world-renowned thief who steals treasure and gems. He is sometimes known as the Kaitou Kid or International Criminal 1412. He was named Kid when a journalist hastily scrawled "1412" and Booker (Yusaku) Kudo read it as "KID" (14 = KI, 12 = D)^[1]. The Japanese word "Kaitou" means "mysterious thief," often translated "phantom thief."

The current Kaitou Kid is Toichi Kuroba's son Kaito Kuroba (黒羽快斗, Kuroba Kaito^?), a 17-year-old student and rather gifted magician who learned magic and the art of disguise from his father as a child. Besides Kaito, Kuroba Toichi also trained Vivian Kudo (工藤有希子, Kudō Yukiko^?), (Shinichi's mother) in the art of disguise for her acting job^[2]. Chris Vineyard (Vermouth) was also one of his students, who at the time went by the name of Sharon^[3].

The first Kaitou was originally the world famous magician Toichi Kuroba (黒羽盗一, Kuroba Tōichi^?). Eight years before the story begins, Toichi was hired by a^[4] criminal organization^[5] ( Now called "The Black Organization" from Aoyama's later series Meitantei Conan,the members seen in Magic Kaito did not wear black) to find and steal a specific and supposedly a magical jewel called "Pandora Gem". After finding out the reason they are after the gem and realizing how dangerous the organization is to the world, he decided to back out of the deal. The organization later murdered Toichi during a magic show, and his death was framed as an accident.

As Kaito Kuroba

As a person, Kaito is very intelligent, and a class clown at his school. He loves pulling harmless pranks on people, often involving magic, to get a laugh. He blends in as a normal student and has never received a compliment in his life. Aoko Nakamori is Kaito's love interest in the manga Magic Kaito.Whenever he plays a trick on Aoko, she chases him around with whatever she can find but she secretly likes him. She is also unaware that Kaito is the "Kaitou Kid" and hates the "Kid" because, not only does he steal things, which she believes is wrong but her father is always off chasing him and not spending any time with her. Akako Koizumi a witch, has also expressed interests in him, and tries to cast spells on him to win his love, which strangely for her, don't work.

After learning about his father's alter ego, Kaito picks up where his father left off and assumes his identity in order to investigate his mysterious death. He finds out that his father was in fact murdered by a mysterious crime syndicate for refusing to assist them in their search for the Pandora gem. He then vows to find it before they do and destroy it- to deny immortality to his father's murderers. In addition, he tries to lure them out with his incredibly publicized and flamboyant heists. He even goes to such lengths as to announce the time and place of his heists in the form of riddles that he sends to Nakamori beforehand, which drive the inspector crazy.

Kaito's only clue about his father's death was the request his father was given about a gem. The Pandora Gem was said to ooze liquid "tears" during the passing of a particular comet, and when consumed, would grant immortality. Apparently the gem glows red under the full moon and that it is a doublet: a gem hidden within a larger gem. Thus, it would have to be a relatively large one with a bizarre history, and always stored in a place that never receives moonlight. This is why he researches and steals famous priceless gems with odd histories from incredibly well-defended areas, and always returns them after the very next full moon if they are not what he is looking for. During his thievery, he always vows to do his best to never let anyone get hurt.

Kaito has an odd fear of fish even though he does not fear going to jail, as most criminals seem to. He has often stated he cannot be caught, and that Conan is on "the wrong side". He also has the common fear of his secret identity becoming public knowledge.

The name "Kaito" has no special meaning, but is a pun off the word "Kaitou" which means "Phantom thief." "Kuroba" means "Black Feather;" it is also a pun on the English word "clover," which Kid sports on his monocle. Shinichi Kudo from Aoyama's Detective Conan physically resembles Kaito. The only major difference in their appearance are their hairstyles. In the Detective Conan anime Kaito and Shinichi are voiced by the same seiyū. In English, he is known as the Phantom Thief Kid.

Kaitou Kid Life

Kaito's skills, and intelligence prevent him from getting caught. He uses multiple gadgets to help with his thievery. He is also very skilled at performing magic tricks and illusions. KID is also known for their acrobatic and daredevil-like antics (jumping off buildings, climbing through narrow places like air vents and sewers, etc). Kaito can also imitate practically any voice without the aid of a special device. His costumes and disguises are top notch as well. Kaito can even make someone believe he is their husband, son, or family member ^[6]. There is one thing he can not do though, and that is ice skating.

Kaitou Kid uses a number of gadgets to help with his thievery. Most notable are the sharp, thin metal playing cards shot by a card gun, a cape that can unfold into a hang glider, pink smoke bombs, and blow-up mannequins that act as decoys to distract the inspector. He also has an assistant who had previously worked for his father-- an older man named Jii. No one other than Jii and Kaito's mother know of his identity as Kid.

Inspector Nakamori has always pursued KID where he had failed many time and made to look like a fool. Although Inspector Nakamori always tries to catch him, he has a respect for the man. Oddly enough, the inspector and Toichi Kuroba were good friends. The inspector is unaware that the current Kaitou Kid is not the original.

Saguru Hakuba, the son of a high police official, is a famous high school detective. He is Kaito's love rival for Aoko. He also attempts to catch the Phantom Thief Kid. Saguru believes that Kaito might be Kaitou Kid, but can never prove it. Sagura has also made appearances in the anime and manga of Case Closed, though there are times Kaito uses him as a disguise.

Throughout the anime and manga of Case Closed, Kaitou Kid and Conan Edogawa have crossed paths, but Kaitou has always managed to elude Conan's clutches by using his skills. In the anime, Kaito also finds out that Conan is really Shinichi Kudo after the events of the 3rd Detective Conan movie. However, in the manga he does not appear to know of Conan's real identity. He also seems to like to challenge Conan in addition to teasing him. The majority of fans of the series have decided that Conan and Kid are both after the same people^{[citation needed]}, though this is not stated in either manga or the Case Closed anime.

Father & Son

Shinichi Kudo's father and Phantom Thief Kid's father seemed to have a history in which they "clashed". This seems to be repeated when both Shinichi and The Kid clash multiple times. The extent of which their parents know each other, or how they were involved with each other, is not well known at this time. Toichi Kuroba referred to Shinichi as technically a brother; Phantom Thief Kid's father once said "I'm your sibling...or should I say, your younger brother," talking to Jimmy when he was a child but meaning it as a secret message for Shinichi's father. However, this is a reference to the fact that Yuusaku was the one who named him "Kid".

Character information

Eisuke is Ran's new classmate. The two met shortly following the 'Black Impact' incident in which the FBI apprehended a member of the Black Organization via a fluke accident, about which Eisuke appears very curious.

His deductive skills are not very impressive, though Detective Moore has offered Eisuke the opportunity to visit his agency at any time. Eisuke seems to have impeccable timing throughout his short time in the series, and he is very accident prone. He also has a crush on Ran.

Conan originally suspects Eisuke of being involved with the Black Organization; however, it is unclear as to who he works for or if he is actually a member of the Black Organization at all. For instance, in one case, Eisuke broke down in tears because he was "unable to solve the mystery." However, suspicions regarding Eisuke's true identity for Case Closed enthusiasts increases as Gin recalls hearing someone say "Hondou... Hondou... Hondou..." before.

Conan also notices many similarities between Eisuke and Rena Mizunashi, and this leads Conan to believe that the two are related. However, viewers may infer that the Black Organization's relation with Eisuke goes deeper. In File 604, it is revealed that "Rena" is actually Eisuke's sister Hidemi, who is an undercover CIA agent like their deceased father, Ethan. After Mizunashi returns to the Black Organization, the FBI tries to get Eisuke to enter the witness protection program. However, Eisuke returns in File 619, and has refused to be protected by the FBI.

Surprisingly in File 621, Eisuke tricks Conan into revealing his secret identity to him by telling Conan that he is in love with Ran and that he wants to travel to America to become a CIA agent and take her with him. However, he muses that he wanted to talk to Shinichi to get his opinion, since he knows the two had sort of been together and is angry that Shinichi is not there more for her. Conan then firmly reveals his opinion on the matter as well as who he is. Eisuke only laughs and tells Conan he had suspected it all along. Before leaving, Eisuke asks Conan to make Ran happy.

Solving Crimes

Conan often uses Serena in the same way he uses Richard Moore, to solve cases because she can be rather vain, and decides not to question how she solved a case while sleeping^[9] . Conan tends to use her when Richard Moore is not around^[10]. She is his "back-up ace detective" who will "solve" the crime when the police are stumped. Conan has solved multiple cases with Serena's "help"^[11]. Conan usually knocks Serena out with his Stun-dart watch, then imitates her voice with his Voice-changing bow-tie^[12]. The police put more trust in an older teenage girl, then a young child, so Serana's deductions usually are considered, while Conan's are usually just thrown out. Eventually the police come to respect Serena as a sort of amateur "detective" or a person with a good deductive reasoning mind ^[13]. When Serena wakes up she usually takes full credit for whatever crime she "solved", although she appears to be a little confused. Toyama is the childhood friend of Harley Hartwell (Heiji Hattori). She frequently gets angry at Harley and often has arguments with him. Her relationship with Harley is much like Rachel Moore's (Ran Mori) relationship with Jimmy Kudo (Shin'ichi Kudo). Deep inside she cares deeply for him and worries about him whenever he goes out on a case. Toyama even gave Heiji a good luck charm (omamori) to carry with him to protect him. She is a close friend of Rachel and wishes to see Ran's childhood boyfriend, Shinichi. Kazuha is also a 2-dan in aikido.

Kazuha and Rachel's friendship actually got off to a rather stormy start. Kazuha hates Harley's female "groupies." After returning to Osaka after learning that Conan Edogawa was in fact Shin'ichi (Jimmy) Kudo, Harley often talked about Kudo to Kazuha. Kazuha became jealous and assumed that this mysterious Kudo was another female rival. When Harley brought Conan and Rachel to Osaka [see volume 19], Kazuha assumed that Rachel was "Kudo" and took an instant dislike to her. However, the misunderstanding was cleared up by Heiji just as Kazuha was confronting Rachel (Which caused Conan to panic, thinking his cover was blown as he thought he was the one she was talking to, until she leaned over him and it became apparent that she was actually talking to Rachel, who was on his other side). Rachel is not angry or scornful toward Kazuha but advises her to love Harley bravely. From that point on, the two becomes very good friends.In volume 20, it was shown that Kazuha had thought of Rachel and Harley's relationship 'tacky', seeing as they wore the same style of clothes. In the same volume, Harley reveals that Kazuha's thighs need to get thinner. Since both girls are in love with boy detectives about whom they constantly worry, they form a special bond and support and help one another.

It was revealed that Kazuha was Harley's first love in the 7th movie, Crossroad at the Ancient Capital. When Harley was 7, he saw a girl wearing a kimono under a cherry blossom tree, and fell in love with her, but then the wind blew cherry petals in his eyes, and when he could see again, the girl had disappeared. In the Japanese anime, Toyama is voiced by Yuko Miyamura, who is best known for her role as Asuka Langley Soryu in Neon Genesis Evangelion.

He stars is 6 films, and was in multiple television shows.

In the Case Closed card game, her name is Katie Thompson. However, the 19th Volume of Case Closed introduces her as Kazuha Toyama. Currently, the Case Closed Anime has only released up until episode 81, so it is unclear if she will be Kazuha or Katie in the Anime. Heiji is the son of Martin Hartwell (服部平蔵 Hattori Heizō)^[1] and Shizuka Hattori (服部静華 Hattori Shizuka) née Shizuka Ikenami (池波静華 Ikenami Shizuka)^[2]. Both parents are expert in martial arts^[3]^[4] and very traditional Japanese at heart.

Heiji (age 17) is known as the Detective of the West, while Shinichi Kudo is known as the Detective of the East ^[5], and has been a rival of Jimmy since "The Diplomat Murder Case"(#48&49) ^[6], where he was first introduced in the anime. As confirmed by Caitlin Glass, Harley is from Canada in the English adaptation of the show. However, in the English Manga, he is still from Osaka and the story still takes place in Japan. However, after Heiji finds out about the truth of Conan Edogawa being Shinichi Kudo in Holmes Freak Murder Case ^[7], the two detectives occasionally work together to solve cases, and Heiji once said "We're like brothers, we can share anything," in the original version. There is still some competitive feeling between them throughout the series, however, but the two eventually become good friends, as do their friends, Ran (Rachel) and Kazuha.

His deductive skills are from his father, who is the chief of police of the Osaka Prefectural Police Department^[8], while his good humored character and skill in kendo comes from his mother. His favorite fictional detective is Ellery Queen^[9].

He vaguely resembles Shinichi, only with darker skin, and sharper features. He has a childhood friend and love interest, Kazuha Toyama. Kazuha constantly worries over Heiji, even giving him a lucky charm with the words "Don't forget me idiot!" written on it. Ran teases Heiji and Kazuha, mainly because they remind her so much of herself and Shinichi. Despite his obvious crush on Kazuha, Heiji never actually realize it so far^[10], unlike Shinichi, who realizes his own feelings for Ran and had actually planned to propose to Ran in one case^[11]. He is able to ride a motorcycle, and in fact owns one ^[12].

The sport he likes to play is kendo, and he also has a rival named Okita in the kendo tournament who oddly looks like Shinichi Kudo and Heiji Hattori as a mix who comes in episode 263^[13].

Name

The name "Hattori" comes from the historical figure Hattori Hanzo, a ninja of the Iga Clan from Hyōgo Prefecture in Western Japan. Hattori Hanzo was the head of Shogun Tokugawa's secret police force. His first name, Heiji, comes as a reference to a detective named Zenigata Heiji, who essentially caught the criminals by throwing coins. Another famous anime character that shares the name is Inspector Zenigata from Lupin the 3rd.

Fictional character biography

Eva is the wife (and was a childhood friend) of Richard Moore (Kogoro Mōri) and the mother of Rachel Moore (Ran Mōri). The name "Eri Kisaki" came from the mystery writer/detective Ellery Queen. Kisaki means "queen" in Japanese. She is also a childhood friend of Vivian Kudo (Yukiko Kudo).

Ten years ago^[1], she had been taken hostage by a man who Richard (back when he was still a police officer) had arrested at the police station. The man had escaped the questioning room, grabbed her, and held her at gunpoint. Being an expert marksman, Richard shot at her so the bullet just grazed her leg. Due to this, she fell out of the way, allowing them to take the man back into custody. Despite this, Richard's superiors believed he had been reckless and didn't care about her safety. He was thus forced to leave the police force. Rachel originally thought that her mother left him since he had shot her, but Eva later reveals that she had known all along why he had shot her, and was proud of him for saving her life. Apparently the real reason that she left him was rather silly-- Richard criticized her cooking (which is terrible). However, she still shows affection for Richard, and she would return to him if only he would stop his perverted attitude when he is around other attractive women.

Eva is very intelligent and quick on the uptake; as an experienced lawyer, she has been known to be able to solve criminal cases, occasionally with the help of Conan. She may also suspect that there is more behind Conan than meets the eye; however, she has come to trust his mystery-solving capabilities and vouches for him - even though she is reluctant to see her daughter get romantically involved with a childhood friend (as was the case with her).

In Volume 17 of the manga, she is seen driving a classic Mini Cooper (an LHD one, which is odd for Japan, an RHD county, especially since most Minis built were RHD, even those sold in LHD countries like the United States). She refers to it as her car, but it may have been a rental.

Kisaki (Eva) and Kogoro (Richard) were in the same school since kindergarten, where they were always at loggerheads with each other. Their fellow classmates were amused that despite their fierce bickering during a home economics class over choice of sauce to go with omelette, Kisaki favouring the traditional Western seasonings while Kogoro insisted on Japanese soysauce. Despite their adamant disagreement, they ended up eating in exactly the same manner. The top student Kisaki was polar opposite to the academically inept Kogoro, yet they were always inexplicably drawn to each other, though mostly to quarrel, clued other students their concealed mutual attraction.^[2].

It was revealed in Volume 41 of the manga, and episodes 333-334 of the anime that she once competed with Vivian Kudo in a beauty pageant that had taken place in Teitan High. Apparently, both of them won in a draw, due to Richard's ticket not being placed in. Ironically, he had voted for Eva because of some word-twisting which made him think of the election as a sort of nerd competition.

Aside from helping Conan solve cases, the anime has adapted her into a few original courtroom battle episodes in which her profession is put into motion. In each battle, her rival is top public prosecutor named Reiko Kujo (九条玲子, Kujo Reiko^?), whose nickname was "Madonna of the prosecutors".^[3]

Professor Herschel Agasa is Jimmy Kudo's next door neighbor, and an inventor. After Jimmy turned into a child, Agasa was the first person to know his identity.

As an inventor, Agasa uses his technological expertise to aid Conan in his cases, most notably the tranquilizer watch and the voice-changing bow tie which Conan uses primarily in most of his cases.

He is also a congenial and friendly person, which makes him very popular in the community; throughout the manga series he receives a number of gifts and invitations to social gatherings, which he usually attends with the "Junior Detective League" in tow (and which inevitably turn into some criminal case).

In his life, he was a big child like Genta. Forty years ago his first love was a girl who was afraid of animals whom he helped get over that fear ^[1]She is now currently a designer for women's clothing and is filthy rich. She meets him 40 years later when Conan solves the code to the spot where they are supposed to meet every decade. She pretends not to know him, thinking the Detective Kids are in fact his grandchildren and miserably returns to her company never to come again. She mentions that she was waiting for him all her life.

Name

His first name 博士 has double meaning. Read as hiroshi it is a Japanese given name; but read as hakase it refers to the title of Doctor of Philosophy. Since Agasa does have a PhD, Conan Edogawa refers to him as Dr. Agasa (Agasa-hakase), but if his whole name and title has to be referred, it would be 阿笠博士博士 (Agasa Hiroshi-hakase).

Professor's Agasa's name is a pun of the famous mystery writer Agatha Christie. Agatha written in Japanese is "アガサ" (Agasa). It is spelled with an "s" because the Japanese language does not inherently have a "th" sound.

Ayumi is introduced into the series after Conan Edogawa joins her class. Soon after, she, along with Conan Edogawa, George Kaminski/Genta Kojima, and Mitch Tennison/Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya, form a group they name the "Junior Detective League," or "Detective Boys" (Shounen Tanteidan) in the original version. Much to the dismay of Genta and Mitsuhiko, Ayumi has a crush on Conan. In the fifth movie, she openly tells Ran of her love for him.

Ayumi has a personality much like any other normal schoolgirl, and is obsessed with popular trends in her school as Masked Yaiba and Japanese monster films. George loves to come up with fun games to play with "Junior Detective League", but is serious when a case comes up. Aoyama introduced Mitch/Mitsuhiko as one of Conan Edogawa's three first-grade foils. These three match the traditional division "brains, brawn, and beauty"; Mitch, the "brainy one," is an intelligent boy for his age and knows a little about many kinds of technology. Mitch and his friends Amy Yoshida and George Kojima befriend Conan in grade school and form the Junior Detective League. Early in the series, Aoyama established that Mitch (and George) had a crush on Amy, who had a crush on Conan, who was both far too old for her and implied to have feelings for Rachel/Ran. Later, when Anita Hailey joins the group, the manga not only has the rest of the Junior Detectives befriend her but has Mitch fall for her; however, Aoyama has not yet made it clear whether Anita has romantic feelings towards anyone. Mitch is also shown to be a big fan of Masked Yaiba.

Mitch is a well-read kid, who reveals to have basic knowledge about many things most of his friends wouldn't know about. Aoyama may have intended this to be the result of both his parents being teachers. He is also quite level-headed, though he still tends to panic in stress situations. Anita Hailey, known in Japan as Ai Haibara (previously Shiho Miyano (宮野志保 Miyano Shiho)), is a character and protagonist in the detective manga and anime Case Closed (Detective Conan). She first appears in the 2-hour special episode #129 The Girl from the Black Organization and the University Professor Murder Case and manga volume 18 file 6 (A Transfer Student).

Anita is a friend, ally, and classmate of the main protagonist, high-school detective Jimmy Kudo/Conan Edogawa, and an ex-member and fugitive from the malevolent "Black Organization" which she betrayed. Although mentally an adult, her body has reverted back to childhood form due to an experimental poison, APTX 4869, which she developed for the Black Organization and subsequently used on herself in a failed suicide attempt. She often helps Jimmy Kudo with cases while she tries to develop an antidote for the poison she created.

Anita's disenchanted, mistrustful, sarcastic attitude contrasts with Jimmy Kudo's optimism and idealism. While honorable herself, she grounds the other characters by reminding them of the darker side of reality and human nature. When grouped up with less insightful characters, she is often used to explain to the audience the reasoning behind Jimmy Kudo's deductions or point out the flaws in the premature deductions of the others.

Anita grew up within the villainous secret crime syndicate, the "Black Organization," along with her sister, Akemi. She is the daughter of an English mother and a Japanese father, also members of the Black Organization, both of whom are dead. A prodigy, she was sent to the United States for education at a young age, then came back to Japan as a biochemist to continue her parents' unfinished secret project in the Black Organization. In the Japanese version, she obtains the codename of Sherry in the process.

When the timeline of Case Closed begins, Anita is an 18 year old biochemist working on her late parents' secret project for which she developed the experimental poison APTX 4869. While researching its effects, Anita noticed that a rare few of her lab mice had become younger after being given the drug instead of dying. Meanwhile the Black Organization has been using APTX 4869 for untraceable murder. Two members of the Black Organization force Jimmy Kudo to swallow a pill of APTX 4869 to silence him after he witnesses a blackmail exchange. Left to die, instead Jimmy Kudo's body shrinks to that of his eight year old self, precipitating the events of the story. Unaware of the drug's rare side effect, the Black Organization orders a search for Jimmy Kudo because his body had not been found. Anita searched Jimmy's house for the Black Organization twice after he had been shrunk to confirm his death. She began to suspect Jimmy's transformation after she searched his house for the second time and noticed his childhood clothes were missing. Anita then confirmed him as deceased so the Organization would not kill him.

Sometime after Jimmy Kudo's transfiguration, Anita's sister Akemi Miyano who had tried to arrange for the two of them to leave the B.O. in exchange for committing a robbery was murdered by the Black Organization member codenamed Gin.

Her dissatisfaction over the Black Organization's usage of one of her test compounds -- the APTX 4869-- for killing purposes, in addition to her open questioning over the murder of her sister Akemi Miyano resulted in her imprisonment and scheduled execution by the Organization. With no other way out, she decided to secretly commit suicide by taking a pill of APTX 4869. However, it made her body shrink to that of about her seven-year-old self, the same fluke that happened to Jimmy Kudo (Shinichi Kudo). With her new small body, she easily escaped from the Black Organization's cell and collapsed in front of Jimmy's house hoping that he would sympathize with her situation. ^[1] She was then found and adopted by Jimmy Kudo's friend and next-door neighbor, professor Hiroshi Agasa. To prevent the knowledge of her transfiguration from being discovered by her pursuers from the Black Organization, she pretends to be a child and attends Teitan Elementary school under the alias of Ai Haibara (灰原哀, Haibara Ai^?), along with the shrunken Conan Edogawa and normal children Amy Yeager (Ayumi Yoshida), George Kaminski (Genta Kojima) and Mitch Tennison (Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya).

Anita's constant worry is that the Organization will eventually track her down and her friends will be killed along with her, so she was initially very cautious about taking risks with her former colleagues, at times to the point of paranoia. Determined not to run from her fate anymore, however, she has recently begun to shed this caution.

She is still working on the antidote for the APTX 4869, and helps Conan gather clues about the Black Organization in order to help bring them down. She appears to know the secret objective of the Black Organization judging from the first conversation between the Black Organization members Gin and Vodka in episode 129.^[2]

Relationships with other characters

Anita seems to have feelings towards Jimmy Kudo, which is suggested in many episodes though she denies that she has any romantic interests towards him when being asked by Amy and Mitch. She also feels very comfortable talking to him, since they are on more or less the same intellectual level, and feels she has a lot in common with Conan. She has told Conan about her feelings towards him on multiple occasions, but ends up always saying "just kidding"; Conan becomes confused after that. As a consequence, Anita may have been jealous of Jimmy's childhood friend and love interest Rachel Moore (Ran Mouri) for at least some time, but eventually warmed up to her, and even began to regard Rachel as a surrogate sister after Ran saved her life from Black Organization members Vermouth and Calvados.

She also has a good relationship with her fellow elementary classmates Amy, George and Mitch, and considers them, along with Conan, as the first real friends she has ever had.

Anita is terrified of the members of the Black Organization, especially Vermouth and Gin. She can "feel their presence" when they are close by and dissolves into a trembling state of fear.

Voice Actor

Her character voice role is done by Megumi Hayashibara in the Japanese version. A different voice actor played the character during the eight movie. Her appearance was temporarily limited and showed in re-runs due to Megumi's pregnancy leave in the Summer of 2004.^[5] This is also why some episodes made around 2004 do not have the character Anita Hailey in them, because she was on leave, and couldn't lend her voice for the show. Character Information

Kogoro is a private investigator^[1], but he prefers to laze around all day. Richard can easily become infatuated with beautiful women and he would always boast of his career achievements so as to make them admire him. His dream woman is pop idol Yoko Okino,^[2] and he never misses her television show.^[3] Because of his behavior around attractive woman, he often embarrasses his daughter Rachel Moore and while it is not the reason why Richard's wife left him, it is why she hasn't come back.

While he is never outright called an alcoholic, Kogoro has a tendency to get intoxicated at social events, and Jimmy/Conan makes sarcastic remarks about him spending money on alcohol. In the anime, his office is littered with empty beer cans^[4], and he keeps a well-stocked liquor shelf.

Throughout most of the series, he is seen as a pretty incompetent detective, often missing obvious clues and jumping to conclusions, though it should be noted that several of these conclusions were shared by other people on the scene, as well as the fact that Kogoro also follows many police procedures (asking questions, following leads) quite well. Despite his ineptness, he had been a prominent police officer under Inspector Juzo Megure ten years prior to the start of the series^[5] He is shown to have left the police force after events addressed in the second movie, Case Closed: The Fourteenth Target.

Thanks to Conan's undercover help in solving numerous cases, Kogoro's reputation as a detective grows quickly.^[6] He hardly remembers the solutions of any cases because of Conan knocking him out with tranquillizer darts so that he can announce the solution to the case using an imitation of Kogoro's voice as a proxy. However, Kogoro never seems to wonder about that and often boasts about his merits.

In later stories, there are times when Kogoro is actually able to solve crime cases without the help of Conan, especially when people he knows or cares about are involved. (It appears that, while he can connect the dots just fine, he can't actually find them as quickly as Conan does.) The most notable of these events takes place during a trip to a hot spring, where one of his old college friends is murdered. Richard is actually so disturbed and determined to find the killer on his own that Conan cannot bring himself to drug him, limiting himself to surreptitiously drawing attention to the necessary clues.^[7] Despite his frequent moronic analysis, Richard is actually smarter than most average men, as he is able to decipher certain clues and figure out things which most average men probably wouldn't figure out. He is even able to completely solve a crime himself in the ninth movie, Detective Conan: Strategy Above the Depths, and Conan applauds him mentally for it.

In college, Richard was the ace of the Judo team. However, he was highly vulnerable to stage fright.^[8] He is also an excellent marksman.^[9]

Richard's daughter, Rachel Moore (Ran Mori), is also the daughter of Eva Kadan (Eri Kisaki), who is now living separately after an argument ten years prior.^[10] Despite constantly feigning disinterest in her, Richard still has feelings for his wife--he has even asked her to move back in with him, but she pretends not to hear him because she is not "ready" yet,^[11] though she still has feelings for him as well. These are expressed through jealousy when he comments on other girls' looks.

Name and Age

The name "Kogoro Mori" came from two mystery-related sources. "Kogoro" came from "Kogoro Akechi", the detective created by Edogawa Rampo, while Mori came from Maurice Leblanc.

In the Japanese verson Kogoro Mori is often mistaken for the famous astronaut Mamoru Mohri when he introduces himself, because they both are in the news frequently, of Japanese decent, and have the same last name. In the English verson when Richard introduces himself he is often mistaken for "oh, that famous astronaut," as well. In the English verson it is possible he is also confused with Patrick Moore.

In the US version, Richard Moore says that he is forty-three, in opposed to being thirty-seven in the Japanese version. It is unknown if Eva's age remains the same since they had attended school together, and if not, if it'll affect the Princess Pageant storyline that occurred twenty years ago, making her in her twenties when she participated instead of a teenager.

Anime Appearances

Richard is (mostly) a main character and appears in a majority of the episodes. When he is absent, Conan tends to use Serena Sebastian, to solve the crimes (by knocking her out with his Stun-dart watch, then using his Voice-changing bow-tie, similar to what he does with Richard). Other episodes where Richard is not there, tend to involve the Junior Detective League.

Ran was born on October. Ran is a childhood friend and the main romantic interest of Shinichi Kudo^[1] (Jimmy Kudo) and the daughter of private detective Kogoro Mori (Richard Moore) and Eri Kisaki (Eva Kadan), a lawyer. Her parents separated when she was six^[2], and one of her biggest goals is to get them back together. Ran is the captain of the karate team of Teitan High School^[3] (Titan High School in the English anime) and therefore is very powerful as demonstrated when she wins her Regional Championship^[4]. Besides that, she is also very talented and very lucky in gambling. She is so lucky that she amazingly wins in all of the gambling games she ever played.

After Shinichi disappears, a boy named Conan Edogawa comes to stay with Ran, acting as her surrogate little brother^[5]. Little does Ran know that "Conan" is actually Shinichi shrunken down to size. Shortly after meeting him, she reveals her true feelings about Shinichi to him^[6].

In time Ran suspects that he is actually Shinichi, but Shinichi always manages to "prove" to her otherwise. This happens many times, and in one she was actually so sure until Shinichi (temporarily restored to his true age) appears at the same time as Conan (actually Ai Haibara). Every time Ran learns that Conan is Shinichi, she tries to make him confess the truth. She also fantasies that Shinichi is with a brown/blond-haired woman (one of them had happened without her knowing, which was Episode 129 of the series) all the time.

Her greatest personality trait is that she genuinely cares for those she loves and somehow finds the strength to hold onto hope that they will be reunited. She constantly tries to reunite her father and mother again - though with little success, thanks to mutual stubbornness - and nourishes the desire to see Shinichi again, despite the emotional hardship the waiting gives to her.

In chapters 350-354 of the manga and episode 286-288 of the anime, Vermouth under the alias Sharon Vineyard and a silver haired serial killer develops the nickname 'angel' for Ran. Later in the anime/manga, Vermouth shows hesitance to kill Ran^[7] but whether or not it is because of any emotional attachment isn't clear.

Relationships

Shinichi Kudo

Ran and Shinichi are childhood friends, it is proved in the anime/manga that they have known each other since pre-school but it is likely that they have known each other since the were born due to Eri Kisaki and Yukiko Kudo's friendship^[8]. Ran likes Shinichi romantically but isn't adverse to knocking him down a peg when he gets a little too arrogant. Their relationship is a well balanced one.

Ai Haibara

Ran and Ai's relationship is awkward at best. Ai seems to hold Ran with disdain most of the time while Ran isn't quite sure how to approach the stoic girl. It becomes clear that Ai finds Ran very similar her deceased sister^[9]; bringing new depth to their relationship. It isn't entirely clear whether or not Ai views Ran as a rival for Conan/Shinichi's affections, but there are many scenes that hint that this may be the case in both the anime and manga.

Akai

Ran and Akai meet briefly in New York during the 'Golden Apple' case^[10](episodes 286-288 in the anime and manga chapters 350-354) while Akai is looking for a serial killer. Ran, knowing the description of said murderer(long hair, Japanese), first mistakes Akai for the serial killer. She is soon proved wrong. Later she runs into Akai back in Japan but doesn't recognize him. Akai notes at that time that she is very similar to Akemi Miyano(his deceased girlfriend and Ai's sister).

Fictional character information

Booker (Yusaku) Kudo is a famous mystery novelist married to Vivian Kudo (Yukiko Kudo). The two have one son, Jimmy Kudo (Shin'ichi Kudo).^[1]

He is known around the world as being the writer of a popular mystery novel series starring the Night Baron^[2] (called Knight Baron in Case Closed). Twenty years prior to the start of the series, he helped Inspector Meguire (Juzo Megure) solve difficult cases,^[3] much as his son does in the beginning of the series.^[4] However, Booker never sees himself as anything but a writer. Because of his fame, he and Vivian move to Los Angeles one year before the story begins, leaving their then-fourteen-year-old son behind to complete his schooling. Before leaving, and when Jimmy was still a 10 year old kid, he and the previous KID, used to be rivals. It was hinted in episode 472-473 that he may know the original KID's secret identity. Oddly enough, he was the one who named the previous KID, reading 1412, as KID, making him technically a parent of KID, and Shinichi's brother, figuratively through episode 471-473.

The Kudo couple make their first appearance in episode 43. They are shown to have become worried because sense Jimmy turned into Conan, he has not called them (which is a few months). They ask Dr. Agasa about the problem. Agasa tells them about Jimmy's poisoning and his double life as Conan. In an attempt to convince Conan that he should join his parents in Los Angeles, Booker disguises himself the Night Baron and Vivian disguises herself as Fanny Edogawa. With Dr. Agasa's help, they stage a mock kidnapping in an attempt to prove to Jimmy that he can't pull it off on his own, and to convince him to go live with them in America.

In episode 96, Booker appears once again, this time in an attempt to sharpen Conan's skills, although the fact that Booker is the mysterious man is not revealed until the end. It turns out that he had also come to win Vivian's forgiveness for some offense and to take her back home with him.

He also helps to design a Sherlock Holmes virtual video game in the 6th movie, that Conan and his friends get trapped inside of.

As his son can be compared to Sherlock Holmes he would be compared to Sherlock's older brother Mycroft. As he is a better detective but chooses not to be one.

Fictional character information

Early life as Jimmy Kudo

Jimmy was born to Booker and Vivian Kudo, mystery writer and former movie star respectively^[1]. He was born on the 4th of May, but he repeatedly forgets his birthday every year^[2]. He is a genius savant, and even from a young age, was very intuitive and observant. In addition, his father often made him puzzles and games to help sharpen his mind even more as he grew up.

Due to the influence of his father, and the generally laissez-faire environment at home, he has long been an incessant and persistent reader^[3], especially of mystery novels-- he finished the entire collection of mystery novels in his elementary school library during his elementary school years^[3]. Also, Booker started to bring young Jimmy to crime scenes until Jimmy was in sixth grade^[4]. This has caused Jimmy to have a love of crime investigation, and for that reason, peers like Rachel Moore and Serena Sebastian called him a mystery geek (推理オタク, suiri-otaku^?) in passing^[5].

His life between ages 6 to 16 was not well-documented. During junior high school he was made a starting midfielder in the school's soccer team as a freshman. The head of the soccer club even fell in love with him, but he rejected her nicely due to the fact that he was secretly in love with Rachel^[6].

His parents moved to the United States when he was 14 to pursue their own careers, while he was left in Tokyo^[7].

At the beginning of the series, Jimmy is a 17-year old student at Titan High School (Teitan High School in the original Japanese versions). He is already a well-known detective who closed many difficult cases, and known as the savior of the police force^[8]. That same year, he left the soccer club, but even Rachel considered his soccer skills at national level.^[9] He told her that he liked to play because he considered soccer as a way to train his reflexes-- akin to his idol, Sherlock Holmes's practice of fencing-- for his detective skills^[10]; he aspires to be the Sherlock Holmes of the Heisei era.^[11]

Shinichi is also known for his inability to sing^[12]; but since he can still distinguish different musical notes^[13], by definition he cannot be referred to as tone deaf.

Vivian Kudo is married to Booker Kudo (Yusaku Kudo), and is the mother of Jimmy Kudo (Shinichi Kudo). She had become a famous actress and idol at a very young age, but abandoned her promising career in order to marry her husband. This caused an uproar within her family at the time, since she had been only 20 years old. After having Jimmy, she and her husband traveled to America to pursue their own careers after he had grown old enough to care for himself.

Vivian is also an old friend of Rachel Moore's (Ran Mori) mother Eva Kadan (Eri Kisaki) from high school, and both had competed in a pageant which had taken place in their school. In episode 43, Vivian makes her first appearance in the series. In the episode, the couple had returned from America to discover that their son had gone missing. Dr. Hiroshi Agasa feels inclined to tell them about what had happened to Jimmy, and the danger that he is in. They are extremely worried about him and want him to go live with them in America. They do this by staging a mock "kidnapping" of one Conan Edogawa and create a case for him to solve, while scaring him half to death at the same time.

Vivian disguises herself as Conan's supposed mother, "Fanny Edogawa" and shows up at the Moore Detective Agency to pick him up. Conan immediately knows something is wrong since Conan was an alias that he made up, and fears her to be part of the Black Organization. In the end, she and her husband reveal themselves to him, and plead with him to stay with them in America. Conan rejects the idea, because he feels that he needs to bring down the Black Organization and keep the Professor, Rachel, and her family safe at the same time. Thus, Vivian takes him back to Rachel Moore's (Ran Mori) place while disguised as Fanny. She and her husband then return to America, but check in on him from time to time.

Later, in episode 96, Vivian returns to Japan to find that Rachel is highly suspicious of Conan being Jimmy. Vivian pretends that she didn't know that Conan is Jimmy to lure Rachel away, and convinces her that Conan is a very distant relative of both herself and the professor. Later in the episode, Vivian takes Conan to her friend's house, where yet another mystery has to be solved.

Vivian (Yukiko) had also studied for an acting role with her friend, Sharon Vineyard (who unbeknowest to her, was Vermouth) under the world-famous stage magician, Toichi Kuroba. One of the things he taught them was disguise, and they both become masters of the art. They did not know that Toichi Kuroba was secretly the original Kaitou Kid, who was later murdered by the Black Organization, and whose identity was later discovered and taken up by his own son. Yukiko had also met the successor of Kid, yet she also does not know. However, what she did know was that she had met Toichi's son before, Kuroba Kaito when he was 10.

Personality

Yukiko's personality is more that of a wild, over-confident teenager than of a mature woman;
she is impulsive, a reckless driver (caught back in New York because of it), and likes to stand in the limelight (literally) whenever she has the chance. Because of her marriage to a famous mystery author and her knack for becoming involved in criminal cases from time to time, she has been publicly dubbed the "Night Baroness", after one of her husband's more notorious characters, the Night Baron.

A running gag in the series is that whenever Yukiko meets her son and they have to pretend not to know each other, in the original Japanese versions Shinichi (or rather, Conan) calls her "oba-san". This term, which means "old lady" or "grandmother", is often used by small children for women in their thirties and forties, sometimes even younger ones - a rather discomforting thought for those Japanese women who consider themselves in the prime of their lives. Yukiko also reacts rather unfavorably to it - she is "only" 37 years old - so Conan has to correct himself by calling her "onēe-san" ("older sister").

Leah Dizon was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. She has two older brothers, an older sister, and two younger brothers. She says she grew up listening to Rock and R&B music. She took dance lessons and was in her high school theater. Dizon dreamed of pursuing a career as a singer.^[2]

After graduating from high school, Dizon moved to Los Angeles and began her modeling career. While attending college as a film major, Dizon landed a phone company advertisement and posed for the cover features of various import-car magazines. This gained her much attention and a fanbase overseas, predominantly in East Asia. One year after her pictures were posted up on the internet, she already had 2,000,000 hits from search engines.^[1] Following the advice of her fans, Dizon sent a demo tape with photographs of herself to a talent agency in Japan and in April 2006, after being accepted, she immediately moved to Tokyo. In October 2006, she released her first photobook titled Petite Amie (Girlfriend in French), which was ranked as the third best-selling photobook of 2006 and 2007.^[3]^[4]

On February 14, 2007, she released her first physical single, Softly under the Victor Entertainment label.^[5] It peaked at number #7 in the Oricon Weekly Chart. On the same day, she also released her second photobook titled Hello! Leah, which was ranked as the second best-selling photobook of 2007.^[6]^[4].

On May 30, 2007, Dizon released her second single Koi Shiyō (恋しよう♪, Koi Shiyō^?), which also peaked at #7 on the Oricon Weekly Chart. The title track is described as a 'grooving, up-tempo dance song' and the single features 2 B-sides: Could you be that one? and Aishiteru～ Love Story (アイシテル～ Love Story, Aishiteru～ Love Story^?).^[7] The title track, Koi Shiyō was used in a Lotte TV ad^[8] while Could you be that one? was used in a PlayStation 3 Ninja Gaiden Sigma TV ad, with Dizon starring in both commercials.

Her third single entitled L・O・V・E U was released on August 8, 2007. ^[9]

Leah released her debut album "Destiny Line" on September 12, 2007. The CD+DVD Edition contains 14 tracks, 10 of which were penned by Leah herself the single PVs as well as a special album PV "Again and Again". The CD Only Edition contains the digitally-released remix of Koi Shiyō, called Koi Shiyō♪ (yasutaka nakata-capsule mix).

Leah Dizon's third photobook titled Heaven, was released October 5, 2007. It includes a DVD.

Dizon released her fourth single entitled "Love Paradox" on March 26, 2008. The Title track is an American like Urban song, and the B-side "Under the same sky" is a mid-tempo ballad. The same day, she also released her fourth photobook, "Pure Leah."

On April 18 it was announced that Leah's song, Under the Same Sky, will be used as the theme song for the Japanese drama, Tokyo Prom Queen. Leah will also make a guest appearance on the show as Naomi, the prom queen from the previous year. ^[10]

Her fifth single, Vanilla was released on June 25, 2008. Her second album, Communication!!!, was released August 20, 2008. ^[11]

Choi Si Won was discovered by a talent scout when waiting for his friend at the front gates of a high school in 2002 and became a SM trainee. He made his first appearance(2003) in Dana’s music video “What is Love.” Prior to his official debut as a member of Super Junior, he had several minor roles in Korean dramas. His most noteworthy role was in the drama “Eighteen, Twenty-Nine”, where he played the lead, Kang Sangyoung’s high school self. Around this time, there were plans of making him a member of TVXQ[citation needed]. However, the idea fell through and the group made their debut without him. Kangta (강타) (born October 10, 1979) is a South Korean singer, first known as the lead singer of legendary boy band H.O.T. (High-five of Teenagers). Kangta, his stage name, is the symbol for great hit in Hangul as An Chilhyun (안칠현) is his real name.

He has been a vigorous songwriter and composer, having written over 100 songs^[1] for H.O.T.'s albums as well as for other groups and singers like NRG and Fly to the Sky. When H.O.T. disbanded in March 2001, a legion of loyal fans was in rage. However a couple of months after the group disbanded, Kangta surprised many people by becoming the first member to debut solo. He released his first solo album "Polaris", which became a huge hit; it was followed by his second album "Pinetree" in 2002. His first solo concert took place on August 24, 2003.

In 2006, Kangta was chosen as a runner up for Best Korean Singer overseas, according to Arirang International Broadcasting. A poll was issued over the internet, allowing only foreigners to vote. His previous solo concert was five years ago. His concert, "Eternity", was aimed at looking back at his last twelve years as a singer and thanking his fans.^[3]^[4] On April 1, 2008, Kangta officially began his military duties in Euijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province.^[5] Kangta is currently enlisted in the Korean army for two years, which every male is required to service in. Kangta was discovered at Lotte World, a theme park, when he was only 13 years old. He debuted as a back-up dancer together with Moon Hee Jun (another H.O.T. member) for singer Yoo Young Jin. Kangta eventually decided to become a singer with Moon Hee Jun and three others, Jang Woo Hyuk, Tony An, and Lee Jae Won to form H.O.T. in 1996.

After planning for years, Kangta worked with his celebrity friends Shin Hye Sung from Shinhwa and Lee Ji Hoon to form the project group "S", standing for "Supreme". They released their first solo project album called "Fr. In. Cl." or Friends in Classic. They have won several awards since then. Their title track, "I Swear" was written, composed, and arranged by Kangta while Shin Hye Sung wrote the English lyrics.

Early 2006, Kangta collaborated with Vanness Wu of F4 from Taiwan, and formed Kangta & Vanness. Their first debut was in Thailand ending the ceremony for the 2006 MTV Asia Awards. They released their single "Scandal" and have been busy promoting their single all over Asia. "Scandal" was a success over Asia and a a repackaged version was released in mid-July. In September 12, they held a showcase in Malaysia , Berjaya Times Square and were shocked to see so many fans turning up. They sang a few songs live and it has made the fans happy and overjoyed. A total number of few hundred fans were very lucky and managed to get their album autographed by both Kangta and Vanness. It was a successful event. In "Heart to Heart", Kangta announced that he would be entering the Army in early 2008, so he and Vanness will be putting their activities on hold.

Acting

Kangta received several offers and has accepted a drama offer in China. In 2004, he starred in a drama called Magic Touch of Fate together with Taiwanese actors and actresses, Ruby Lin and Alec Su. Kangta portrayed the role of the evil magician Jin-Xiu.

Soon afterwards, Kangta returned to Korea and released his much-awaited third album. In 2005, Kangta released "Persona", which included tracks that were very different from his previous two albums. The main single of the album, "Persona" had a similar melody to Babyface's "The Loneliness". Kangta surprised his fans when he said he wanted to become an actor. A month later, he starred in a KBS drama, Loveholic.

Kangta also acted in his second Chinese drama^[6], Love In The City 2. In Love In The City 2 Kangta portrayed the life of a successful CEO with a dull life.

During the promotion events of Kangta's third album "Persona", he was contracted to become the spokesperson for a Korean MP3 player.

As group 'S', Kangta, Shin Hyesung, and Lee Jihoon were in a commercial for IVY Club.
